Uganda Zoo – The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, commonly known as Entebbe Zoo, traces its origins back to 1952 when it was established by the British colonial government of Uganda. Initially intended as a refuge and rehabilitation center for wildlife injured or rescued from poachers, its purpose evolved over time.

In 1994, the Entebbe Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) was fully formed with a primary focus on educational objectives. The center is entrusted with the task of rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for injured, confiscated, and orphaned wildlife. Situated just a 10-minute drive from Entebbe International Airport, the Entebbe Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) is conveniently located near this transportation hub. However, individuals seeking to partake in animal feeding activities at UWEC are required to undergo vaccination administered by the health doctor stationed at the center. Getting there

2. By Road: Entebbe is easily accessible by road from various parts of Uganda. Entebbe town is approximately a 40-45 minute drive from Kampala, the capital city. From Entebbe town, UWEC is around a 10-minute drive. Taxis, boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis), and rental cars are readily available for transportation within the area.
3. Public Transport: Public buses and minibusses operate between major towns and cities in Uganda. You can take a bus to Entebbe town and then proceed to UWEC via a taxi or boda-boda.
4. Private Transportation: Hiring a private taxi or arranging for a car rental from Kampala or Entebbe town is another convenient option for reaching UWEC. Many hotels and lodges also offer shuttle services to tourist attractions like UWEC.
