Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, your Kenlink Tours guide will collect you from Kampala or Entebbe for the scenic 6–7 hour drive west to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The route passes rolling hills, tea plantations, and grazing long-horned Ankole cattle, with a stop at the Equator line for photographs and a break, and lunch in Mbarara town along the way. Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Rise early for a game drive along the Kasenyi plains and the Queen’s Mile — prime habitat for lion, elephant, buffalo, Uganda kob, warthog, and, with luck, leopard, all set against the backdrop of the Rwenzori Mountains. Return to your lodge for a late breakfast and some time to relax before lunch. In the afternoon, board a boat for a cruise along the Kazinga Channel, the 40-kilometre natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. This is the park’s signature activity, bringing you close to enormous pods of hippo, basking Nile crocodile, elephant coming down to drink, and a constant procession of waterbirds. Day 3: Final Activity & Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe

Enjoy an early breakfast before your final morning in the park. Depending on your interests and timing, this can include a short game drive, a visit to the Katwe crater and its traditional salt-mining works, or — with extra time — a chimpanzee walk in nearby Kyambura Gorge. Afterward, begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening in time for your onward travel or flight home.

Good to Know

Best time to go: Queen Elizabeth National Park can be visited year-round, but the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer the best game viewing, as wildlife concentrates around the Kazinga Channel and remaining water sources.

Park fees: Entrance fees are set and periodically revised by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, which manages Queen Elizabeth and all of Uganda’s national parks. Current published rates are around US$40 per day for foreign non-residents; we build these into your quote and handle payment on your behalf.

Fitness level: This is an easy-going itinerary built around game drives and a boat cruise, suitable for travelers of all fitness levels, including families and older travelers.

Uganda entry requirements: Most visitors need a visa, obtainable in advance through the Uganda e-Visa portal, and proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for entry.
