Day by Day Activities.

Day 1:Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park

Departing from Nairobi around 8:00 a.m., your journey leads you to Tsavo West National Park, maximizing your time for exploration. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Tsavo West, the most frequented section of Tsavo National Park, offers a wealth of attractions beyond its wildlife. A highlight is the renowned Mzima Springs, where millions of liters of pristine water gush from volcanic rocks. Originating from the Chyulu Hills via an underground river, these springs attract a diverse array of wildlife, including the iconic red-dust elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2. Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, indulge in a full-day game drive accompanied by a picnic lunch. Among the notable destinations today is Roaring Rocks, aptly named for the echoing roars of lions in the vicinity. From the top of the 98-meter rock face, enjoy stunning vistas over Tsavo. Poacher’s Lookout offers similar panoramic views from its hilltop perch in the park’s center. Additionally, explore and ascend the Chaimu Crater Viewpoint, a volcano less than 200 years old, characterized by its black cinder composition. Keep an eye out for klipspringer, a nimble antelope known locally as “mbuzi mawe” or mountain goat, in this area. Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3. Tsavo West National Park to Amboseli National Park

Following a delectable breakfast, kickstart your day with an early morning game drive before departing for Amboseli National Park. Upon arrival, check in at your accommodation and enjoy a scrumptious lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive.

Located south of Nairobi, Amboseli National Park boasts a diverse landscape, from dry ancient lake beds to fragile grasslands and patches of acacia woodland. The southern region features small rocky volcanic hills, while around the Ol Okenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok swamps, lush vegetation thrives, adorned with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. Conclude your day with dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4. Amboseli National Park

You will rise early for good views of the scenic Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is the best wildlife area in Africa to experience elephants at close range. Elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps form the highlights of any safari!

We can plan an optional visit to a Maasai village after breakfast. You will see the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 5. Amboseli National Park to Lake Naivasha

Set out in the early morning for Lake Naivasha, the highest and most picturesque Rift Valley lake, nestled at an elevation of 1,910 meters (6,200 feet). Freshwater and surrounded by dense clusters of papyrus, historically used by ancient Egyptians for paper-making, the lake serves as a haven for diverse birdlife. Kingfishers perch among the papyrus, while herons seek refuge as they forage for food. With over 400 recorded species, Lake Naivasha is a renowned birdwatching destination. A beloved weekend escape for Nairobi residents, the lake offers opportunities for sailing, water skiing, and fishing. While crocodiles are absent due to the cold water at this altitude, hippos are commonly sighted. Along the lakeshore, vineyards thrive, contributing to Kenya’s emerging wine industry. Conclude your day with dinner and a relaxing overnight stay at the resort.

Day 6. Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park

Located south of Bogoria, along the Great Rift Valley, lies the renowned Lake Nakuru National Park, celebrated globally for its vibrant flamingo population and its alkaline lake. Recognized as one of the World’s Natural Wonders, the park also serves as a vital rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 black and 60 white rhinos. While the flamingoes are a major draw, forming a breathtaking deep pink band around the lakeshore, the park’s diverse wildlife captivates visitors. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to explore the park’s rich biodiversity. Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 7. Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve

Today, you will go on an early morning game drive and depart for Masai Mara National Reserve. This reserve is one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed in the numbers that were once common across all the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and predators. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.

Day 8. Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve, with a picnic lunch provided. Renowned for its black-maned lions and diverse wildlife, the reserve offers rare sightings of the Big Five during morning game drives. Cheetahs, often seeking refuge from the sun, may even approach vehicles, with some climbing onto roofs for better prey views. Bird enthusiasts will delight in the nearly 500 recorded species, including 16 types of eagle, numerous hawks and falcons, six varieties of vultures, eight species of storks, four types of bustards (including the kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird), and nine species of sunbirds.

Your dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided at a campsite or lodge.

Optionally, after breakfast, consider a visit to a Maasai village, or indulge in a hot air balloon ride at an additional cost.

Day 9. Transfer from Masai Mara to Nairobi

You will have an early morning sunrise game drive before you head back to the camp for breakfast. You will check out and take your trip back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch en route. You will be dropped off at your city hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. End of your tour.
