Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our Kenlink Tours guide who will give you a short briefing about your safari. We then embark on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, known as the primate capital of the world. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful countryside, lush tea plantations, and local markets.

We will have a lunch stop in Fort Portal, a town nestled at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival at Kibale, check in to your lodge and relax. If time allows, we take a short nature walk at the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you can spot different monkey species, birds, and other wetland wildlife.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, we head to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Then, we embark on an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest, home to over 1,500 chimpanzees. Along the way, you may also encounter red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and a variety of birds.

After spending an unforgettable hour with the chimps, we return to the lodge for lunch before departing for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey takes us through the rolling hills of Kigezi, sometimes referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.”

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This is the highlight of the safari – a close encounter with the majestic mountain gorillas of Bwindi National Park. After an early breakfast, we proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. You will be assigned to a small group and led by experienced rangers into the dense forest in search of a gorilla family.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. Once we locate them, we will spend one magical hour observing their interactions, playful young ones, and the dominant silverback. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation or an optional community walk to the Batwa pygmies, where you can learn about their unique culture and traditions.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Relaxation & Canoeing

After an incredible experience with the primates, we depart for Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s most scenic and deepest lake, dotted with 29 small islands. The lake is bilharzia-free and safe for swimming.

Upon arrival, we check in at the lodge and enjoy a leisurely boat ride or canoeing to explore some of the islands, such as Punishment Island, which has an intriguing history. You may also opt for a nature walk, bird watching, or a cultural visit to interact with the local Bakiga people.

The evening is spent relaxing while enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Entebbe – Departure

After breakfast, we embark on our return journey to Entebbe. Enjoy the scenic drive through Kabale and Mbarara, with a stop at the Igongo Cultural Center for lunch and a brief visit to the Equator Crossing for a photo session and souvenir shopping.

Upon arrival in Entebbe, we transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 5-day Uganda Primate Safari Experience with Kenlink Tours.
