3 Days Uganda Big Five Safari.

A short safari doesn’t mean a small experience. A 3 Days Uganda Big Five Safari with Kenlink Tours is perfectly designed for travelers who want to see Africa’s most iconic wildlife in a limited time. This adventure takes you to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most spectacular park, where savannah meets river, and wildlife roams freely against breathtaking landscapes.

From powerful waterfalls to wide open plains filled with animals, this trip gives you a true taste of Uganda’s wild beauty while keeping travel time efficient and comfortable.

Why Choose a 3-Day Big Five Safari in Uganda?

Uganda is often called the “Pearl of Africa” for a reason. Its diversity of landscapes and wildlife makes it one of the best safari destinations in East Africa. In just three days, you can track the famous Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino — while also enjoying boat cruises, scenic drives, and unforgettable views of the Nile River.

With Kenlink Tours, every detail is arranged for you: comfortable transport, knowledgeable guides, great lodges, and a well-paced itinerary that balances adventure and relaxation.

Where You Will Go – Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is the highlight of this safari. Located in northwestern Uganda, the park is known for its dramatic landscapes and incredible wildlife density. The mighty River Nile flows through the park and explodes through a narrow gorge to form Murchison Falls, one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world.

The park’s savannah plains are home to elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and predators like lions and leopards. Along the riverbanks, you’ll find hippos, crocodiles, and countless bird species, making this safari a dream for both wildlife lovers and photographers.

Detailed 3-Day Uganda Big Five Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls & Rhino Tracking

Your safari with Kenlink Tours begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You’ll head north toward Murchison Falls National Park, enjoying scenic countryside views along the way — rolling hills, local villages, and roadside markets give you a glimpse of everyday life in Uganda.

A major highlight of the journey is a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild. Accompanied by a ranger, you’ll go on foot to track these impressive animals. Seeing a rhino up close is an unforgettable experience and completes the Big Five checklist.

After lunch, you continue to Murchison Falls National Park. Before heading to your lodge, you may visit the Top of the Falls, where the Nile forces itself through a 7-meter-wide gap and plunges down with a thunderous roar. The sight, sound, and mist of the falls are absolutely thrilling.

Dinner and overnight at your lodge inside or near the park.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Nile Boat Cruise

This is your main wildlife-viewing day and one of the most exciting parts of the safari. After an early breakfast, you set off for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, where wildlife sightings are at their best.

As the sun rises over the savannah, you may spot lions returning from a night hunt, elephants feeding in herds, and buffaloes grazing in large groups. Keep your camera ready for leopards, which are shy but sometimes seen resting in trees or moving through the tall grass. You’ll also encounter giraffes, antelopes, and many bird species.

After the game drive, you return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation before heading out again in the afternoon for a boat safari on the Nile River.

This boat cruise takes you upstream toward the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, you’ll see large pods of hippos, massive Nile crocodiles basking in the sun, and elephants and buffaloes coming to drink. The boat slowly approaches the falls, offering incredible photo opportunities of the powerful cascade.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, filled with stories of the day’s sightings.

Day 3: Final Wildlife Views & Return to Kampala/Entebbe

On your final day, you wake up to the sounds of the wild one more time. After breakfast, you begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Depending on time and interest, there may be another brief stop at a scenic viewpoint or for souvenir shopping along the way.

You’ll arrive in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your 3 Days Uganda Big Five Safari with Kenlink Tours — short in length, but rich in unforgettable memories.

Wildlife You Can Expect to See

This safari offers excellent chances to see the Big Five:

  • Lions – Often spotted during early morning game drives

  • Leopards – Shy but present in the park

  • Elephants – Frequently seen in herds across the savannah

  • Buffaloes – Common throughout the park

  • Rhinos – Tracked on foot at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You’ll also see giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, Uganda kobs, and a wide variety of birds, including fish eagles and kingfishers.

Best Time to Go

This safari can be done all year round, but the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) are especially good for wildlife viewing, as animals gather around water sources and roads are easier to navigate. However, even during the greener months, Murchison Falls remains beautiful and full of life.
