Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your Kenlink Tours guide will meet you in Kigali early in the morning for the scenic 4 to 5 hour drive to Bwindi, crossing the Cyanika border into southwestern Uganda along the way. Good to Know

Visa note: If you plan to re-enter Rwanda after your trek, make sure your Rwanda visa is multiple-entry. Best time to go: This trip can be done year-round, but the driest months (December–February and June–August) offer firmer forest trails and generally easier trekking conditions.

Fitness level: Gorilla trekking involves uneven, sometimes steep and muddy forest terrain. Even a short two-day trip can be physically demanding, so let your guide know your fitness level in advance so they can help assign you to a more accessible gorilla family. Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots with ankle support are essential, and hiring a porter is strongly recommended.
