5-Day Uganda to Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari Adventure. This 5-day Uganda safari offers an exceptional combination of classic savannah wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and an unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience, ending with a smooth transfer to the Rwanda border. Beginning in Entebbe, the journey takes travelers westward to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most diverse wildlife park, before continuing to the misty forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Guests are met on arrival in Entebbe by a professional Kenlink Tours safari guide. After a short briefing, the journey begins toward western Uganda, passing through scenic countryside, tea plantations, crater lakes, and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.
A lunch stop is made en route before entering Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon. Depending on arrival time, guests may enjoy a relaxed evening game drive or simply unwind at the lodge while taking in views of the savannah. Dinner and overnight are spent within or near the park.
After an early breakfast, guests set out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best wildlife-viewing areas in the park. This area is well known for sightings of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs, and large predators such as lions and leopards.
In the afternoon, the safari continues with a boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel, a natural channel linking Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise offers spectacular close-up views of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and a wide variety of birdlife along the banks. The evening is spent at leisure back at the lodge.
Following breakfast, guests depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The route passes through the Ishasha sector, an area famous for its tree-climbing lions, offering a chance to spot them resting in fig trees along the way.
The drive continues through rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and forested landscapes before arriving in the Bwindi region in the afternoon. Guests check in to their lodge, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.
This day marks the highlight of the safari. After an early breakfast, guests transfer to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by park rangers on gorilla trekking rules and procedures.
The trek through Bwindi’s dense rainforest can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family assigned. Once the gorillas are located, guests spend a precious hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat—an experience that is both emotional and deeply rewarding.
After the trek, guests return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxed afternoon. Optional activities include a community visit or a guided village walk around the Bwindi area.
After breakfast, guests depart Bwindi and drive toward the Uganda–Rwanda border at Cyanika Border. The scenic journey passes through the Kisoro highlands, offering stunning views of volcanic mountains and rural settlements.
Upon arrival at the border, the Kenlink Tours guide assists with exit formalities, marking the end of the safari. Guests may continue onward into Rwanda for further travel arrangements or extensions.
This itinerary is carefully designed to combine big game safaris, a world-class gorilla trekking experience, and smooth cross-border travel. By including Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, guests experience two of Uganda’s most iconic destinations in just five days, making it ideal for travelers with limited time but high expectations.
