20 Days Uganda Primate Wildlife & Culture. This 20-day safari is designed to showcase Uganda’s incredible primates, abundant wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. From gorilla trekking in the misty Bwindi forest, chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, big game safaris in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, to cultural immersions with the Batwa and Karamojong people—this itinerary guarantees an unforgettable journey through the “Pearl of Africa.”


Day 1: Arrival in Uganda – Entebbe/Kampala

  • Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for briefing about the safari.

  • Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short city tour visiting the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre or Botanical Gardens.

Accommodation: Hotel in Entebbe/Kampala


Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

  • Drive northwards through Luwero Triangle with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking.

  • Proceed to Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest national park.

  • Evening relaxation at the lodge overlooking the Nile River.

Accommodation: Lodge inside/outside Murchison Falls NP


Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Cruise to the Bottom of the Falls

  • Early morning game drive across the northern banks for elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and leopards.

  • Afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River to the base of the mighty falls, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and numerous water birds.

  • Optional hike to the top of the falls for breathtaking views.


Day 4: Scenic Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

  • Early breakfast and embark on a long but rewarding drive northeast to the remote and wild Kidepo Valley.

  • Travel through scenic landscapes of Karamoja region.

  • Arrive in the evening and relax at your lodge.

Day 5: Game Drives in Kidepo Valley

  • Morning game drive in Narus Valley, famous for lions, cheetahs, buffalo herds, giraffes, and oryx.

  • Afternoon game drive or nature walk to spot more unique wildlife.

  • Enjoy the untouched wilderness with fewer tourists.


Day 6: Cultural Encounter with the Karamojong People

  • Visit a traditional Karamojong homestead (manyatta).

  • Learn about their cattle culture, warrior traditions, dances, and crafts.

  • Evening relaxation at the lodge with scenic sunset views.


Day 7: Transfer to Moroto – Karamoja Cultural Experience

  • Drive to Moroto, the cultural heart of Karamoja.

  • Visit local markets, traditional healers, and cultural centers.

  • Option to spend a night in a traditional Karimojong kraal for authentic immersion.


Day 8: Transfer to Sipi Falls (Mount Elgon Region)

  • Journey to Sipi Falls at the foothills of Mount Elgon.

  • Afternoon hike to the beautiful waterfalls with panoramic views of Karamoja plains and coffee farms.

  • Coffee tour experience with local farmers.


Day 9: Transfer to Jinja – Source of the Nile

  • Drive to Jinja, Uganda’s adventure capital.

  • Visit the source of the Nile where the world’s longest river begins its journey.

  • Optional activities: white water rafting, kayaking, or sunset boat cruise.


Day 10: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

  • Long scenic drive through tea plantations and local villages towards western Uganda.

  • Arrive in the evening at Kibale Forest National Park, home to 13 primate species.


Day 11: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

  • Morning chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, one of the best places in the world to see chimps.

  • Afternoon guided walk in Bigodi Wetlands for bird watching and cultural interaction with local communities.


Day 12: Transfer to Semuliki National Park

  • Morning drive to Semuliki National Park, famous for its hot springs and bird diversity.

  • Afternoon visit to Sempaya Hot Springs and enjoy a cultural performance from the Bamaga community.


Day 13: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Drive southwards to Queen Elizabeth NP with scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains.

  • Evening game drive through Kasenyi plains.


Day 14: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

  • Morning game drive for lions, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and possible leopards.

  • Afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel to see hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.


Day 15: Ishasha – Tree Climbing Lions & Transfer to Bwindi

  • Drive to the southern Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions.

  • Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.


Day 16: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

  • Early morning briefing and start of the unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure.

  • Spend up to one hour with a mountain gorilla family.

  • Evening relaxation at the lodge.


Day 17: Batwa Cultural Experience – Lake Bunyonyi

  • Visit the Batwa pygmy community for traditional songs, dances, and storytelling.

  • Continue to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s deepest and most beautiful lakes.

  • Canoe ride and island exploration.


Day 18: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

  • Drive to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park.

  • Evening game drive for zebras, elands, impalas, and giraffes.


Day 19: Nature Walk & Transfer to Kampala

  • Morning guided nature walk or horseback safari in Lake Mburo.

  • Depart for Kampala, arriving in the evening.

Day 20: Departure

  • Depending on flight time, enjoy a relaxed morning.
