5 Days Chimps and Gorilla Safari. Are you planning to embark on an incredible journey through Uganda’s tropical rainforests on this 5 Days Chimps and Gorilla Safari with Kenlink Tours. This adventure takes you to two of Uganda’s most famous primate destinations — Kibale Forest National Park, home to the highest population of chimpanzees in East Africa, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its endangered mountain gorillas.
This safari blends breathtaking scenery, intimate wildlife encounters, and authentic cultural experiences — making it a perfect adventure for nature lovers and those who want to experience the wild beauty of Uganda.
The safari begins in Kampala or Entebbe and takes you west through Uganda’s lush countryside to Kibale Forest National Park, where you will enjoy chimpanzee tracking and a guided nature walk through the famous Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. You’ll then continue south through Queen Elizabeth National Park for a short game viewing experience before heading to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you’ll trek to see the magnificent mountain gorillas.
The journey offers a mix of wildlife, scenic drives, and cultural interactions — a true representation of Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.
After breakfast, your Kenlink Tours driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for a scenic drive to Kibale. The journey takes about 5–6 hours through picturesque landscapes, tea plantations, and traditional homesteads.
You’ll have a stopover in Fort Portal Town, known for its clean environment and stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival in Kibale, check in at your lodge and relax amidst the sounds of the rainforest. If time allows, you may take an optional evening walk around the nearby crater lakes or visit a local community for a cultural experience.
Accommodation options:
Luxury: Primate Lodge Kibale / Kyaninga Lodge
Midrange: Turaco Treetops / Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. Kibale Forest is often called the “Primate Capital of the World” because it hosts 13 different primate species, including red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and the famous chimpanzees.
Your guided trek will take you deep into the rainforest to locate one of the habituated chimp families. Once found, you’ll spend one hour observing their fascinating behavior — grooming, feeding, playing, and communicating. The experience of watching these intelligent creatures up close is truly unforgettable.
In the afternoon, proceed to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in birds, butterflies, and primates. Enjoy a guided nature walk led by local guides who will share insights about the area’s unique biodiversity and community projects.

Arrive at Bwindi in the evening and settle into your lodge, surrounded by misty forests and mountain views.

This is the most anticipated day of your safari — the gorilla trekking adventure. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family and a ranger guide before heading into the forest.
The trek can last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. As you hike through the dense vegetation, you’ll encounter other wildlife and stunning scenery. Once you find the gorilla family, you’ll spend one magical hour with them — watching the young ones play, the mothers nurse, and the silverback guard the group.
After trekking, you may choose to relax at the lodge or take a cultural visit to the Batwa community, where you’ll learn about the traditional forest life of Uganda’s oldest tribe.
Accommodation: Same as Day 3
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, bid farewell to the beautiful Bwindi Forest and start your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. The drive takes approximately 8–9 hours with a lunch stop in Mbarara and a short break at the Equator line for photos and souvenirs.
