The 5 Days Gorilla and Wildlife Safari combines the thrill of gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with classic game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want to enjoy Uganda’s wildlife diversity in a short timeframe—ranging from savanna animals to the rare mountain gorillas.
You will be welcomed by your safari guide at Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe. After a briefing, begin your scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savanna park. Along the way, enjoy views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and the Rwenzori Mountains. On arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy an evening at leisure.
Overnight: Lodge inside or near Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Wake up early for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Expect to see elephants, lions, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and warthogs. Bird lovers will be thrilled with the park’s rich avifauna.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lakes George and Edward. This cruise is one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth, offering sightings of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and an incredible concentration of birds.
Overnight: Lodge near Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After breakfast, drive south through the Ishasha sector, famous for its unique tree-climbing lions. With luck, you may spot these rare predators lounging in fig trees. Continue your journey through rolling hills and lush countryside to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Overnight: Lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
This is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. With your guide and ranger escorts, you’ll begin your trek through the thick rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family.
The trek can take between 2 to 7 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, spend one unforgettable hour observing their interactions, feeding, and play. This encounter is considered one of the most moving wildlife experiences in the world. After trekking, return to your lodge and relax, or take part in optional activities such as a Batwa community visit.
Overnight: Lodge near Bwindi.
After breakfast, embark on your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Enjoy scenic views and a lunch stop along the way. You will arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 5-day adventure.
