3 Days Wildlife Safari to Queen Elizabeth NP. Embark on an unforgettable 3-day wildlife safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most scenic and wildlife-rich parks. Located in the western part of the country, this park is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from savannah plains and crater lakes to wetlands and forests. It is home to over 95 species of mammals and more than 600 species of birds. This safari offers a perfect blend of game drives, a scenic boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, and opportunities to spot iconic African wildlife such as lions, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and more.
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe. After a short briefing, you’ll hit the road heading west toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, enjoy a stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for a memorable photo opportunity and a brief demonstration of the equator experiment. The journey continues through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, with views of lush banana plantations, cattle grazing lands, and rolling hills.
A lunch stop will be made in Mbarara or Igara, after which you proceed through the scenic landscapes of Bushenyi and the tea plantations of Kichwamba escarpment. Upon arrival at the park, depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short evening game drive to spot some of the park’s resident animals. You will then check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Accommodation Options:
Luxury: Mweya Safari Lodge / Katara Lodge
Midrange: Enganzi Game Lodge / Marafiki Safari Lodge
Budget: Pumba Safari Cottages / Bush Lodge
Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, the best area in the park for spotting predators like lions and leopards, as well as large herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, and warthogs. This morning safari offers excellent opportunities for wildlife photography as animals are most active during the early hours of the day.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some relaxation. In the afternoon, head for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a 32-kilometer waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This cruise is one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering a chance to see hundreds of hippos, Nile crocodiles, bathing elephants, buffaloes at the shores, and numerous bird species such as African fish eagles, kingfishers, and pelicans.
After the boat cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Optionally, you can take an evening crater lake drive for stunning sunset views (at an additional cost).
After an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. If time allows, you may make a brief visit to Katwe Salt Lake for a cultural and historical insight into traditional salt mining by the local communities. Along the way, enjoy another scenic drive through the rolling hills and lush vegetation of western Uganda.
Lunch will be served en route, and you will arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in the late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your memorable 3-day safari.
