After an early breakfast, drive southwest towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. This scenic journey takes you through the lush countryside, rolling hills, and traditional homesteads. Along the way, you’ll cross the Equator and stop for photos and refreshments.

Arrive in the park in the late afternoon and enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge. Queen Elizabeth is one of Uganda’s most famous parks, known for its diverse ecosystems including savannah, wetlands, and forests.

Accommodation:

  • Luxury: Mweya Safari Lodge

  • Mid-range: Enganzi Game Lodge

  • Budget: Pumba Safari Cottages

Day 3: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Start the day with a morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains, a prime wildlife area in Queen Elizabeth. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, and warthogs. Your guide will help track and explain animal behaviors.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel hosts one of the world’s largest concentrations of hippos and is a paradise for bird lovers. Expect to see crocodiles, elephants along the shores, and many water birds including African fish eagles and kingfishers.

Accommodation: Same as Day 2

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions

After breakfast, drive south through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions. With some luck, you may spot them lazily resting in fig trees.

Continue the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Arrive in the evening and check in at your lodge nestled in the forested highlands.

Accommodation:

  • Luxury: Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

  • Mid-range: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

  • Budget: Bwindi View Bandas

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience – The Highlight of the Tour

Rise early and head to the park headquarters for a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. After being assigned a gorilla group, begin your trek into the forest. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.

Once you find the gorillas, spend a magical hour observing them in their natural habitat—watching the silverback lead his family, mothers care for infants, and juveniles play. This is a deeply moving and unforgettable wildlife experience.

Return to the lodge for relaxation or opt for a short community walk to meet the Batwa people (optional).

Accommodation: Same as Day 4

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Relaxation and Canoe Ride

After breakfast, drive to Lake Bunyonyi, often called the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its terraced hills and cool climate. This scenic lake is dotted with 29 small islands and is safe for swimming.

Spend the afternoon relaxing, swimming, or enjoying a canoe ride to explore some of the islands and learn about their history—such as the infamous Punishment Island.

Accommodation:

  • Luxury: BirdNest Resort

  • Mid-range: Arcadia Cottages

  • Budget: Byoona Amagara Island Retreat

Day 7: Return to Entebbe – End of Tour

After a leisurely breakfast by the lakeside, begin your journey back to Entebbe, passing through beautiful hills and rural towns. A lunch stop will be made en route. Depending on your flight time, you may have time to explore local markets or relax at a nearby hotel before your departure.

Your guide will drop you at Entebbe Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of an amazing Ugandan safari experience.
