How far is Sipi Falls from Kampala?

Sipi Falls is approximately 277 kilometers (about 172 miles) from Kampala, Uganda’s capital city. The journey by road takes around 5 to 6 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. The route commonly taken is via Jinja and Mbale, offering scenic views along the way, including lush landscapes, roadside markets, and views of the River Nile. The drive becomes more mountainous and green as you approach the foothills of Mount Elgon, where Sipi Falls is located. Although the road is mostly paved and in fair condition, the final stretch near Sipi may have some rough patches. It’s advisable to use a 4WD vehicle for comfort, especially during the rainy season.
