Early Morning Pick-Up from Kigali
Your journey begins early in the morning with a prompt pick-up from your hotel or residence in Kigali. One of our professional English-speaking driver-guides from Kenlink Tours will welcome you and begin the scenic drive toward the Uganda–Rwanda border. The road trip offers breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and lush countryside.

Crossing into Uganda – Kyanika Border Post
After approximately 3 hours of driving, you’ll arrive at the Kyanika border post. Here, you will go through immigration and registration formalities on both the Rwandan and Ugandan sides. Our team will assist you throughout this process to ensure a smooth transition.

Proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Once you have crossed the border, continue the short drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in the southwestern corner of Uganda. Nestled within the Virunga Mountains, this park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and offers a pristine, intimate setting for tracking.

Arrival and Gorilla Tracking Briefing
Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will be welcomed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) team. A mandatory pre-trek briefing will be conducted, during which park rangers will provide essential information about gorilla tracking etiquette, safety guidelines, and the dos and don’ts while in the presence of the gorillas.

Gorilla Trekking Experience
With your packed lunch and bottled water in hand, you’ll set out into the forest led by expert rangers. The trek can take anywhere between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family on that day. Once you encounter the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one magical hour observing them up close—watching their behavior, interactions, and movements in the wild. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you humbled and inspired.
