The common or eastern chimpanzee, one of the two subspecies, is the only subspecies in Uganda, with an estimated population of about 5,000 individuals living in Kibale, Budongo Forest, Kalinzu Forest, Bwindi, Bugoma Forest, Rwenzori Mountains, and other forest reserves.

6. Kalinzu Forest Reserve: Kalinzu Forest Reserve is near Queen Elizabeth National Park and offers an alternative chimpanzee trekking experience. The reserve is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including primates.
