This safari is perfect for travelers who want to experience the best of Uganda in just one week. From tracking chimpanzees in the tropical forests to spotting lions and elephants on the savannah plains, and learning about Uganda’s rich traditions, this journey combines adventure, nature, and culture in a truly unforgettable way.
During this safari, you will visit some of Uganda’s most famous destinations including Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and the scenic Lake Bunyonyi, while also enjoying authentic cultural experiences along the way.
A seven-day safari offers enough time to experience several of Uganda’s most exciting attractions without rushing. It allows travelers to explore both forest and savannah ecosystems while also enjoying cultural interactions with local communities.
This safari combines three major highlights: chimpanzee tracking, classic African wildlife safaris, and cultural encounters. Uganda is famous for its primates, and tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat is one of the most thrilling wildlife experiences in Africa.
At the same time, the country’s national parks are home to a wide range of wildlife including elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, antelopes, and hundreds of bird species. The combination of primates and savannah wildlife makes Uganda a unique safari destination.
Your safari adventure begins with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, where your guide from Kenlink Tours will warmly welcome you.
After a short briefing about your safari, you will begin the scenic drive toward western Uganda to Kibale Forest National Park, one of the best places in Africa for chimpanzee tracking.
The journey takes you through beautiful countryside, tea plantations, crater lakes, and rural villages. Along the way, you will see how Ugandans live in the countryside and enjoy stunning views of the rolling hills.
Upon arrival at your lodge near Kibale Forest, you will check in, relax, and prepare for the exciting chimpanzee trekking experience scheduled for the following day.
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee tracking. Experienced park rangers will explain the trekking rules and safety guidelines before you enter the forest.
Kibale Forest is home to one of the highest populations of chimpanzees in Africa. During the trek, you will walk through dense tropical forest while searching for these intelligent primates.
Once the chimpanzees are located, visitors are allowed to spend one hour observing them as they feed, groom, play, and communicate with each other. Watching these fascinating animals in their natural habitat is both thrilling and educational.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided community walk. This walk offers an opportunity to see birds, monkeys, and learn about local conservation efforts managed by the community.
After breakfast, your safari continues with a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular wildlife destinations.
The park is famous for its diverse ecosystems including savannah plains, wetlands, forests, and crater lakes. It is home to over 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species, making it one of the richest biodiversity areas in Africa.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward.
The boat cruise offers incredible wildlife viewing opportunities including hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and numerous water birds along the shores.
Day four begins with an early morning game drive across the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Morning is the best time to spot wildlife when animals are most active.
During the game drive, you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, hyenas, and possibly lions resting in the grasslands. The park is also known for its famous tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector.
In the afternoon, you will visit nearby communities for a cultural experience. This may include traditional dance performances, storytelling, craft making, and learning about local livelihoods.
These cultural visits allow travelers to interact with local people and gain insight into life around Uganda’s national parks.
After breakfast, you will depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and travel through the scenic highlands of southwestern Uganda toward Lake Bunyonyi.
Lake Bunyonyi is one of the most beautiful lakes in East Africa. Surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with small islands, the lake offers breathtaking scenery and peaceful surroundings.
In the afternoon, you may enjoy a canoe ride or boat excursion on the lake, explore nearby villages, or simply relax while enjoying the beautiful views.
Lake Bunyonyi is also known for its rich birdlife, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and photographers.
Day six is dedicated to cultural exploration around Lake Bunyonyi. You will visit local communities to learn about traditional farming, daily life, and cultural practices in the region.
Guests may participate in activities such as traditional cooking, basket weaving, or visiting local schools and markets. These interactions provide meaningful experiences and help support community tourism initiatives.
You may also learn about the history and stories associated with some of the islands on Lake Bunyonyi, many of which have fascinating cultural legends.
On the final day of your safari, you will enjoy breakfast before beginning your return journey to Entebbe International Airport.
The drive back offers another chance to enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside. Along the way, you may stop at craft markets or scenic viewpoints to take photos and purchase souvenirs.
Your guide will then drop you off at the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable 7-day Uganda safari.
Uganda is a year-round safari destination, but the best months for wildlife viewing are typically during the dry seasons from June to September and December to February.
During these months, roads and trekking trails are easier to navigate, and wildlife tends to gather around water sources, making animals easier to spot during game drives.
However, the rainy seasons also offer lush green landscapes and fewer tourists, which some travelers prefer for a quieter safari experience.
At Kenlink Tours, we specialize in creating unforgettable safari experiences across Uganda and East Africa. Our team of experienced guides, comfortable safari vehicles, and carefully selected lodges ensure that every traveler enjoys a smooth and rewarding adventure.
