Detailed Itinerary – 8 Days Uganda Safari Beginning from Rwanda

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda)

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by the Kenlink Tours driver-guide. After briefing, begin your scenic journey through Rwanda’s stunning hills toward the Uganda border via Cyanika or Katuna.

Cross into Uganda and continue to Bwindi, home to almost half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner and relaxation.

Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner
Drive Time: 4–5 hours

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – The Ultimate Primate Experience

After an early breakfast, report to the briefing point for the start of your gorilla adventure. Rangers will guide you through the forest in search of your assigned gorilla family. The trek may take 1–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements.

Once found, enjoy one magical hour observing and photographing these gentle giants—an experience that stays with you forever.

Return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation. Optional cultural visits are available.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Relaxation & Canoe Experience

After the primate adventure, drive to Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest lake in East Africa and famous for its peaceful islands and bird species. Enjoy an optional canoe ride, swimming, or simply relaxing at the lodge.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy breakfast overlooking the beautiful lake, then begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited savannah park.

Arrive for an afternoon or evening game drive where you may spot:

  • Elephants

  • Buffaloes

  • Antelopes

  • Warthogs

  • Lions (sometimes tree-climbing lions in Ishasha)

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5: Morning Game Drive – Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Start your day with a sunrise game drive across the Kasenyi plains. Look out for lions, hyenas, elephants, Uganda kob, hippos, and various bird species.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, one of the world’s most wildlife-rich water bodies. Expect to see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and countless birds.

Return to the lodge for dinner.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest – Bigodi Wetland Visit

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run eco-tourism project known for monkeys, birds, and beautiful swamp landscapes.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking – Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Start your morning with chimpanzee tracking in Kibale. The forest is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, allowing high chances of close encounters. You will observe them feeding, grooming, playing, and moving through the forest.

Begin with an early morning game drive on the northern savannah plains of Murchison Falls. Look out for giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, hartebeest, and many more species.

Afterward, visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River forces itself through a narrow 7-meter gorge—creating the most powerful waterfall in the world.

Later, drive back to Kampala or Entebbe where your safari with Kenlink Tours comes to an end.
